This track doesn't let me down

Normal service has been resumed for the time being at least:

Depeche Mode - "Never Let Me Down" [Digitalism Mix] (Mute Records)

Digitalism have been responsible for some of my favourite tunes/remixes in the last year or so, with their "Zdarlight" track, the Cure - "Fire in Cairo" reworking, their involvement in Azzido Da Bass's "Strobelightz", and their remix of the Futureheads - "Skip To The End", to name a few.

And now this track is the latest production to be given some Digitalism treatment. It's taken from the Digital Download edition of the Depeche Mode - Best Of compilation, which also features mixes by ILTT faves Boys Noize, and Olivier Huntemann & Stephan Bodzin. This track has a touch of that french-house sound, a la Daft Punk, SebastiAn, Justice, et al, more so that their other stuff. It's a track full of squelchy, distorted, vocoded, filtered brilliance, that I only wish was longer.

*edit* having just checked the Hype Machine, I now know that this track has been well covered on Fluokids and Discobelle recently, so maybe check them out, because it looks like they have a good taste in music. :D

Faf in the night? Faf in the day?

Yes, I know, things are a little slow lately in what I'm actually liking so I'm having to put up some tracks I've liked earlier in the year, prior to the blog starting. This may not be a bad thing, because I've got a large collection of tracks that are bloody great, which you may have missed at the time.

Like this one:

Shmuel Flash & Huge-A - "Fafloyze" (Juicy Trax)
Random Bleeps, Basslines, weird noises, a good beat, odd vocals, a great breakdown...This is just a brilliant track that comes from regular Israeli collaborative partners, Adir Elimelech (Huge-A) and 1/3 of the Flash Brothers (Ruven, Ilan and Shmuel Flaishler). This got a lot of plays from me earlier in the year, and will definitely feature in my 2006 top 10 list next month.

Something a bit more minimal to even things out..

I've said before, that I'm not a big fan of minimal, with only a handful of tracks being posted about on here that could be considered to fit even remotely into that genre.

But every now and then one does grab me. This one for some reason reminds me of a Jean Michel Jarre tune.

Stephan Bodzin & Marc Romboy - "Phobos" (Systematic)

The German duo release this track on the Romboy-owned Systematic label, in a AA release which featured "Ferdinand" on the other side. This one here is the better of the two by far. The bass and lead melody on it is one of those that just stays in your head is not easily forgotten.

Steve Miller Band vs Gauzz - "Abracadabra (Round And Round)" [Boy 8-Bit Mix] (Data Records)

An old classic tune given an electro re-working, courtesy of Gauzz and Boy 8-Bit.

More older stuff to fill a quiet period...

Luke Dzierzek - "Echo" [John Dahlback Remix] (Silver Planet Recordings)

John Dahlback (Jesper's cousin) takes the Dzierzek original, and improves on it, IMO, though the Dahlback beats, specifically the hihats, do annoy me a little more than the original chunkier drums.

OK, I give in. I'll post some SebastiAn, like all the cool blogs do.

Benjamin Theves - Texas (SebastiAn Mix] (Kitsuné)
That big A in there is important, although when you're searching on the p2ps, means absolutely fuck all to the search results. Which means looking for any SebastiAn remixes usually results in loads of Sebastian Ingrosso and Sebastian Leger instead.

This is typical SebastiAn though..glitchy cut up stuff similar to the Surkin track I posted a month or more ago.

I'm taking my shizzle to the OTHER level

Man in a Room - "Evolution" [Noiseburst Remix] (Queep Organic House)

"My last will and testament. Forget about alternative, or grunge, or being so cutting edge you've got no edge at all. That right there is something pure and special and right on. That is magic most holy. That is art most phenomenal. THAT is what I'm leaving this stinking world. All that remains is the action. Maximum Evolution dude.

"I'm taking my shit to the.......OTHER level."

He's talking bollocks, but still.
